Compared to two years ago, Analytics has become mainstream and is still at the top on the Executive agenda. In terms of technologies, both Analytics and Big Data are expecting to have the biggest impact on organizations in the coming years.

According to Gartner, in 2013 a total of $14.4 Billion was spent on Business Intelligence and Analytics against $13.3 Billion the year before. Global market research and consulting company MarketsandMarkets expects a $20.8 billion market in 2018, representing an annual growth of 8.3%.

These are impressive figures suggesting that there’s still room for growth for Analytics, Big Data and Business Intelligence. Most companies (62%) are expecting an increase of their IT budgets for upcoming years: so the future of Analytics and Big Data looks equally bright. But what does it tell us about the maturity level? Are we still in the experimental phase where we are engaged in Proof of Concepts and Proof of Values? Or are these figures suggesting that both technologies have been embraced as  part of business as usual?

Analytics Survey

To determine the current state of Analytics and Big Data in the Dutch market, Accenture Netherlands and ICT Media are setting up a new edition of the Analytics Survey. The first edition of the Analytics Survey took place in 2012. Please find below a number of conclusions from the first survey:

  • Not data, but people, goals, business orientation and leadership are important in the successful deployment of Analytics.
  • Analytics has 19% more impact on primary processes than in supporting processes.
  • Analytics has more impact on supporting or changing the current decision-making process and increasing flexibility, than on creating new data streams or enhancing organization’s efficiency.

The Analytics Survey is based on the DELTA method as popularized by Tom Davenport, Jeanne Harris and Robert Morison (“Analytics at Work. Smarter Decisions. Better Results “). This method assesses an organization’s analytic maturity against five criteria – data, enterprise, leadership, targets and analysts.

To make this survey a success, we would like to invite you to participate in our new survey: http://tinyurl.com/oztjxw8.

As a token of appreciation for your participation, we like to offer you:

1. A detailed report about the findings, conclusions and recommendations.
2. If desired, free and specific feedback on the findings about your organization and advise on possible next steps.
